Two Screech Owls
I checked on the Screech Owl in Oshkosh on Tuesday evening (at 530 pm).  This time there were two in the tree,  red-phase and gray phase screech owls.

It looks like the upper bill is growing too fast and is not being worn down normally.
Oshkosh Screech Owl
If anyone is interested in getting a good look at a gray-phase Eastern Screech Owl, go to the Oshkosh Downtown YMCA.

Go to Oshkosh on Rt 44.
Stay on rt 44 until it becomes South Park Avenue, and follow South Park Avenue until it makes a T on Main Street.
Left on Main Street.
Right on Washington Avenue.
On the right is the Y's daycare playground.  There are two old trees in front of the day care playground.  The screech owl is roosting in the old tree with the big hole in it.
Ceresco Prairie
Today between 1010-12 noon, we saw eleven species on Ceresco Prairie:  The weather was sunny, clear and warm (34 degrees Farenheit)

The following species were seen in Skip Wittler's yard on Jan 30, 2007 between 0930-0950.  The weather was frigidly cold (10 degrees F), overcast, with light snow flurries.

You can sign-out binoculars in the Biology Office (Farr 229A).  You may keep binoculars over the weekend, but please return them by Monday.  If binoculars are missing at the end of the semester, the last person to have signed out the pair will be held responsible (I will withhold your grade until they are returned or paid for).

eBird accounts should be sent to me on Mondays for the rest of the semester.

The first exam has been postponed until Tuesday February 6th.  We will have covered the following pages in the textbook.  3-24;25-49;79-113;571-601;50-75;141-179;183-192
